You already know drummer Thijmen Molema from The Nest Vol. 2, Dragonfruit & Imaginarium. From mid-January to mid-February, Thijmen Molema will host the BIRDsessions Winter Residency, featuring a different inspiring line-up each week with the theme 'Ode to the Bassist'.

During this period, Thijmen aims to highlight bassists, given their essential role within the rhythm section. Without a bassist, there are no drums; they complement each other and strive to help each other sound their best. Throughout these five weeks, a range of music styles will be explored, and different vocalists will be featured under the guidance of session leader Thijmen Molema during this BIRDsessions Winter Residency.

Wed 22 January: Mees Booden (Where’s Dillie?)
The first evening of the residency kicks off with the incredibly talented bassist: Mees Booden. “Mees and I go way back, from the corona pandemic times to the conservatory. With our project Where’s Dillie, we will open the jam session.” Expect an energetic and danceable atmosphere with instrumental funk/fusion.

It's an exciting challenge for Thijmen to create inspiring combinations of musicians close to him. They will mostly enjoy playing, making music, and creating beautiful things with fun as the central focus. Due to hectic schedules, many musicians often don't get to do this.
