BIRDsessions: STEEBS METHOD

BIRDsessions is our musical playground for artists, musicians and curious ears. A place where you never quite know what’s going to happen. Where new music is born, new bands come together, new friendships spark and new sounds are discovered.

Every week, we put a different act from Rotterdam’s jazz scene and beyond in the spotlight. Come listen, come play, meet new people or simply see where the music takes you.

This week: STEEBS METHOD, November 25

Steebs’ Method is a jazz rap band straight out of Groningen.

Born out of a deep desire for creative freedom and independence, Steebs’ Method blends boom-bap beats with lush jazz harmonies and philosophical, storytelling lyrics.

Groningen-based artist STEEBY (Jesse Kortenschijl) was drawn to the honest storytelling of hip-hop from an early age. In recent years, releases like Alright and Rat Race have established him as one of the leading voices in the Northern Dutch hip-hop scene. Between 2022 and 2025, he sold out two shows at Simplon Poppodium, performed at ESNS and SPOT Festival, and played shows across the country.

In 2024, he teamed up with The Method, a hip-hop band infused with jazz, bringing together young musicians from the Northern Netherlands and beyond. The band is known for its high-energy live shows, complex compositions, virtuosic solos and head-nodding beats.

On November 25, we welcome them to BIRD. Come listen, connect and jam! See you at BIRD!
