What was the first record or CD you ever bought?

Harold Faltermeyer – Axel F, with my pocket money when I was 8.

Which record have you been searching for a long time?

A lot, especially many house and techno records that I knew from the dance floor but didn’t know the names. For example Orbital – Midnight (Sasha Remix).

You pay homage to the music from Detroit in your latest Operator Show. How do you explain the magic of the music culture in this city and which 3 records best represent this magic?

I prefer to leave it to Detroiters to explain the magic of their music culture, but one of the factors seems to be the extremely cold winters, which means people spend a lot of time indoors and have plenty of time to create.

In my operator radio show, I tried to represent a piece of that magic musically.

Choosing only three records for this is impossible, but I can name some genres: Motown, Rock (from MC5 to The White Stripes), Funk (Parliament/Funkadelic, Amp Fiddler), Electro (Sharevari, Cybotron/Model 500), Techno, Dilla, 3 Chairs.

With so many genres, you understand that three records just isn't possible.

What is the ultimate love track for you?

Prince – If I Was Your Girlfriend.

You and Marcellus Pittman have been friends for a while and you talk a lot about music. What is a typical Pittman dancefloor anthem?

52nd Street – Can’t Afford (To Let You Go).

Which track do you definitely play on Fridays?

Joint Venture – Master Blaster, I can’t wait to hear that one really loud! Perfect warming-up track.

Last but not least, what song is your guilty pleasure right now?

I find the concept of 'guilty pleasure' difficult because I'm never ashamed of a song I've chosen myself. If a song is good, it’s good, and it doesn’t matter to me who made it. But what people might not expect from me is that I get really happy from Ice Spice – Actin a Smoochie.
