Wednesday 01 October marks the closing night of One Love, our two week celebration of 15 years of BIRD. There is no better way to end it than with Kay Slice, an artist who embodies everything BIRD has stood for since day one. Music without borders, culture in motion and a community brought together through sound.

With the I Take U Highlife Tour, Kay Slice presents his new album, a bold and contemporary take on one of West Africa's most influential musical traditions. Blending Ghanaian highlife with hip-hop, jazz, soul and Afrobeat, he creates a sound that honours its roots while looking firmly to the future. This is not nostalgia. This is highlife reimagined.

Known for his powerful live performances, Kay Slice brings together live percussion, Ghanaian rhythms, spoken word and sharp storytelling. His music explores identity, heritage, representation and belonging, always driven by rhythm, always inviting people onto the dance floor.

Following the acclaimed From Back To Back, I Take U Highlife sees Kay Slice fully embracing his own artistic voice. Created alongside his Ghanaian band and longtime collaborator Anton de Bruin, the album moves effortlessly between soulful jazz, Afrobeat, hip-hop and modern highlife, reflecting the richness of the African diaspora.

Live, Kay Slice offers more than a concert. He creates a shared experience where music, culture and community meet. Every performance is filled with energy, groove and genuine connection.

As the final event of One Love, this night brings our 15 year celebration full circle. From September 18 through October 1, we've celebrated the artists, communities and collaborations that have shaped BIRD. Kay Slice closes those two weeks with a performance that looks ahead while staying deeply connected to where it all began.
