This week at BIRDsessions: a special edition with our regular session host, Lezaam Beets.

Over the past few weeks, Lezaam has been hosting the sessions. This time, the spotlight turns to him: the Cape Town-born, Amsterdam-based trombonist, composer and bandleader takes the stage with REFORM, his debut album.

REFORM brings together contemporary jazz, South and West African influences, spoken word, improvisation and spiritual reflection. A personal project exploring connection, awareness, growth and the world around us, performed by a young, international band from Amsterdam’s jazz scene.

Lezaam Beets, trombone & composition
Yehorii Uzva, tenor sax
Mikel Lagasa, piano
Dave Guerreiro, bass
Dane Paris, drums

After this special set, we do what BIRDsessions does best: we open the stage.

Bring your instrument, jump in, meet new players and see where the music takes you. Or simply come through, listen and enjoy the vibe.
