An evening of stories, memories & the flavours that built BIRD.

There are people who have worked at BIRD. And then there are people who helped build BIRD. DJ Wooldrik belongs firmly in the latter.

Back when BIRD was still taking shape, DJ was already cooking up a storm in a second-hand kitchen. With creativity, skill and a healthy dose of Rotterdam stubbornness, he turned every service into an adventure.

Anyone who knows DJ knows he has never been one to play by the rules. He built his own wood-fired ovens, experimented with fire, smoke and flavour, and saw possibilities where others saw obstacles. Even his homemade still, used to make moonshine, became part of BIRD folklore after customs confiscated it. Stories like these are as much a part of BIRD's history as the music coming through the speakers.

For one night, DJ returns to the place where he helped shape BIRD's kitchen. He will put together a special menu inspired by the dishes, flavours and memories of those early years. A celebration of adventure, creativity and the people who made BIRD what it is today.

Joining him is writer, music lover and longtime friend of both BIRD and Derk Jan, Wilfried de Jong, who will provide the soundtrack for the evening with a special vinyl selection. Wilfried has written with great admiration about DJ, his cooking and his singular way of doing things. His love for music and storytelling makes him a natural part of this night.

Expect good food, strong stories, special music and familiar faces. A night where we return to the days when BIRD was built on dreams, guts and people who simply rolled up their sleeves and got started.
