New Jazz Underground

New Jazz Underground live at BIRD

New York has a jazz trio you need to know about. On Thursday 29 October, New Jazz Underground hits the stage at BIRD Rotterdam, bringing together hard bop, hip-hop and contemporary jazz.

Saxophonist Abdias Armenteros, bassist Sebastian Rios and drummer TJ Reddick met at Juilliard, where their shared love for jazz turned into something special. From jam sessions in New York parks to millions of views for their living room performances.

Listen to MF Doom Suite or Harlem to Havana and you'll hear why. These three know their jazz history, but they're not afraid to put their own spin on it. Tight grooves, bold improvisation and the kind of musical chemistry where everyone keeps pushing each other further.

No wonder Christian McBride called them “one of the hottest new groups in all of jazz right now”.

After Newport Jazz Festival and Birdland, it's BIRD's turn. This is one to catch live.
