Left of the Dial at BIRD: Three Days of New Musical Discoveries
From Thursday to Saturday, BIRD becomes one of the venues hosting Left of the Dial, Rotterdam’s showcase festival for emerging musical talent. Since 2018, the festival has brought artists from the Netherlands and abroad to around 25 venues across Rotterdam’s city centre.
Left of the Dial is all about discovering tomorrow’s favourite artists. With no headliners and every act welcomed with equal enthusiasm, the festival has earned a reputation for its exceptional hospitality. Previous editions have featured artists such as Deadletter, Maruja, Tramhaus, Lambrini Girls and Big Special.
At BIRD, you can discover your next favourite artist from Thursday to Saturday. Here’s what’s on the programme for Thursday:
Thursday
19:30 – Nadeem Din-Gabisi
For fans of: Coby Sey, Kae Tempest and Joshua Idehen
Nadeem Din-Gabisi moves between alternative R&B, hip-hop, soul and indie pop. The London-born artist, poet and visual artist of Sierra Leonean Krio descent weaves personal stories of identity, belonging and cultural displacement into his music.
His debut album, OFFSHORE, released on Moshi Moshi Music, combines poetic lyrics and streams of consciousness with layered production and powerful choruses. The album received support from BBC 6 Music and The Fader, among others, and featured in several best-albums-of-2025 lists. Expect an intense live performance where personal storytelling meets musical energy.
20:45 – Max Sloan
For fans of: Cameron Winter, Joshua Burnside and Lizzy McAlpine
Max Sloan is a folk singer-songwriter from Northern Ireland, now based in Bristol. His intimate songs draw inspiration from nature and personal experiences, blending vulnerable lyrics with subtle melodies.
Joined by his band, Sloan brings these songs to life with atmospheric arrangements and thoughtful instrumentation. A must-see for fans of heartfelt songwriting, melancholic folk and indie music with a personal touch.
22:15 – Ferguson Hi-Fi

Ferguson Hi-Fi are a five-piece garage-pop band from Glasgow, led by singer-songwriter Pete. With infectious melodies, energetic guitars and a healthy dose of indie-rock attitude, they deliver songs that will stay in your head long after the show.
The band is surrounded by established names from Glasgow’s indie scene, both on stage and in the studio. Pete also brings an impressive songwriting background, with credits ranging from Sophie Ellis-Bextor to Belle & Sebastian.
