Junya, born as Junior Emmanuel Koney, is a Ghanaian drummer who has been shaping his musical path from a young age. His mother, a musician, taught him not only to play drums and guitar but also introduced him to gospel and soul, which continues to influence his music to this day. The rhythm and soul that permeate his music are a tribute to her.
His career began in 2018 when he decided to present himself to the world. Since then, he has performed on stages globally, from South Korea and South Africa to his home country Ghana, collaborating with artists like Rimon, Fullcrate, Akwasi, Yung Nnelg, BnnyHunna, Arp Frique, and more. His dynamic performances have captivated audiences everywhere, including the iconic Lowlands festival.
Besides his work as a drummer, Junya is also active as a model for top brands like Daily Paper, Filling Pieces, and TheNewOriginals. He shares his passion for music with the youth in his community by giving masterclasses and assists his father in the church, keeping his mother's musical legacy alive.
With his own music in the making as an independent artist, Junya continues to push boundaries and follow his own unique path.
