They won the Tiny Desk Contest, opened for artists like Lianne La Havas and PJ Morton and last year they blew away a sold-out BIRD and festivals throughout Europe. On Tuesday 19 February they’ll bring their energetic mix of R & B, rock, gospel, hip hop and spoken word to Annabel. All the way from New Orleans: Tank and the Bangas!

    Tiny Desk Contest

Fronted by Tarriona ‘Tank’ Ball – an award-winning spoken word performer before she started the band – Tank and the Bangas give a unique twist to the sound of New Orleans. They alternate (almost without you noticing) between laid-back jazz, humorous spoken word and rhythmic blues. One moment you’ll be listening to tearjerking storytelling on a track like ‘Rollercoasters,’ the next you’ll be taken along in the energetic funk of ‘Quick’ and a minute later the band wins the Tiny Desk Contest. It’s obvious you need to check this award-winning desk jam in preparation to the concert, but you should also definitely listen to their album Think Tank. Good vibes guaranteed!

    Support: Sweet Crude.

    Cyrille Aimée

In the summer of 2016, singer Cyrille Aimée was one of the biggest surprises of North Sea Jazz Festival. In the spring of 2017, BIRD and LanterenVenster brought her to Rotterdam for a first club concert. Since then, Cyrille released two albums – Cyrille Aimée and Move On: A Sondheim Adventure. It was therefore high time to invite the rising star for another concert.
