SMIB is the sound of the BIMS rolling straight into Rotterdam, live at BIRD on March 21.

Founded in 2014 in Amsterdam’s Zuidoost, the collective grew from a lifestyle and streetwear brand into a full-on platform for music, fashion, events, literature and art. DIY mindset, community at the center, always.

On the musical front, SMIB is represented by artists like Ray Fuego, Nnelg, GRGY, Loopey, Tads Thots, GHQST, Ploegendienst and producer KC. Each of them runs their own solo career, but when they join forces, they turn stages into pressure cookers: raw, high-energy hip hop and R&B that hits just as hard live as it does in your headphones. Beyond music, SMIB builds its own universe with clothing, film and a yearly (mini) festival, but music will always be home base.

After years of focusing on solo projects, the crew found their way back into the studio together. The result: the hip hop album EENDRAGHT MAECKT MAGHT, featuring names like Chivv, Reanny, Idaly and Ronnie Flex. The title, a nod to the old motto also linked to Brooklyn, one of hip hop’s birthplaces - says it all: SMIB’s power lies in the collective. Before that, they dropped their debut EP Bakuhatsu, an explosive first dive into the SMIB universe.

At BIRD they bring the Bijlmer energy to Rotterdam: loud, honest, urgent and rooted in community. SMIB live at BIRD means hip hop in its purest form from the BIMS to the Maas, all under one roof.
