Western pop melodies with Jewish and Eastern European roots, a dash of dance, rock and electronica: Oi Va Voi mixes it all into an exotic and unique – but still accessible –  sound. After a long streak of sold-out shows in the Netherlands and beyond, things quieted down around the band, but tonight they bring their contemporary and original Klezmer to BIRD. Oi Va Voi! Or: Oh, dear God!

KT Tunstall’s former band sounds as familiar as ever on their latest album Memory Drop, but they also sound fresher, bigger and better. Dynamic rhythms and catchy Western melodies go perfectly together with the Jewish and Eastern European legacy of the group. Oi Va Voi has created an excellent live reputation for themselves with this formula: especially after bringing down the Alpha tent at Lowlands. Don’t tell anyone (or do…), but the new live shows of Oi Va Voi are promising to more than live up to this reputation!

    Josh Breslaw: drums
    Steve Levi: clarinet, vocals
    Dave Orchant: trumpet
    Michael Vinaver: guitar

    Cyrille Aimée

In the summer of 2016, singer Cyrille Aimée was one of the biggest surprises of North Sea Jazz Festival. In the spring of 2017, BIRD and LanterenVenster brought her to Rotterdam for a first club concert. Since then, Cyrille released two albums – Cyrille Aimée and Move On: A Sondheim Adventure. It was therefore high time to invite the rising star for another concert.
