Psychedelic sci-fi cumbia and surreal vallenato from Bogotá are coming to Rotterdam tonight! Accordion master Mau Gatiyo makes his very first visit to the Netherlands, promising an energetic autumn evening. He will be joined by Dada Phone from Medellín and Cinema Colombiano DJs Mitze Apocalipze and Chucho Vinilo.

This event is organized in collaboration with the Cinema Colombiano team, as part of their ongoing INTERRUPCIÓN series. The series focuses on contemporary music from Latin America and its diaspora. Previous guests include Los Pirañas, Karen y Los Remedios, Susobrino, Alex Figueira and Conjunto Media Luna.
Following the festive 10th edition of their annual film festival last September, Cinema Colombiano is now bringing an official afterparty to V11 for the first time!

MAU GATIYO (COL)

Surreal vallenato & psychedelic cumbia
Inspired by accordion sounds from the ’70s and ’80s and influenced by Bogotá’s tropical music scene, Mau Gatiyo creates futuristic vallenato, protest cumbia, and tropical descarga perfect for dancing. All infused with lysergic samples, synthesizers, and an accordion that doesn’t ask for permission. Tropical, psychedelic, and with a crooked smile.

His second album, SUPERPODERES, was released last year to critical acclaim, Bandcamp Daily called it “a delightfully wacky sci-fi epic.”

DADA PHONE (COL)

Dooombia rhythms from Colombia
Dada Phone delivers fully spontaneous live sets, using loops and effects to bring the rhythms of the Colombian Caribbean to life. He is also known as a member of The Dooombiamberos, the trio behind the tropical gothic sound. In 2024, he collaborated with Brazilian sound wizard Kauê Werner on their adventurous album Rio Vaupés.
