On 29 October, New York pianist, multi-instrumentalist and composer Julius Rodriguez invites you at BIRD Rotterdam for a one-of-a-kind community jam, in collaboration with OSHI and House of Knowledge.

About Julius:

Rodriguez (1998) is one of the brightest new voices in international jazz. Signed to Verve Records, he has released two acclaimed albums; Let Sound Tell All (2022) and Evergreen (2024). His music moves freely between jazz, gospel, R&B, hip-hop and pop, creating a sound that’s fresh, soulful and unmistakably his own.

Already hailed by The New York Times, Vanity Fair and The FADER, Rodriguez has shared stages with legends and innovators alike, from Wynton Marsalis and Roy Hargrove to A$AP Rocky and Meshell Ndegeocello. He’s performed worldwide, including a powerful debut at North Sea Jazz 2023, and is praised as a boundary-pushing artist redefining what jazz can be.

• House of Knowledge empowers the next generation of performers through jams, coaching and masterclasses.
• OSHI is a talent development program for emerging artists in R&B, soul, jazz and hip-hop, connecting the creative scenes of Rotterdam and Amsterdam in collaboration with Orisun Studio, PAARD, Super-Sonic Jazz, Paradiso, Patronaat and INI Movement.

Together, these sessions are about more than just music, they’re about building bridges between cities, scenes, and generations, and giving space to voices that are shaping the sound of tomorrow.
