The British musician beautifully bridges the gap between jazz and neo-classical on her debut album 'Horizons'. Jasmine Myra is part of the vibrant, creative music scene in the city and has surrounded herself with some of the best young talents in the north of England.

On International Women's Day, 08 March, Jasmine Myra will be performing live at LantarenVenster for the first time! Her original instrumental music has a euphoric and uplifting sound, influenced by artists as diverse as Bonobo, Ólafur Arnalds, and Kenny Wheeler. Artists whose music covers an emotional range, something you can also hear in Myra’s own compositions. It is therefore no surprise that trumpeter Matthew Halsall signed her to his Gondwana label. Matthew Halsall, whose keen ear for talent has helped bring the music of GoGo Penguin and Mammal Hands to worldwide fame. Halsall, often called the flag bearer of new British jazz, has made a significant contribution to 'Horizons'.

With 'Rising', Myra has produced an excellent and warm-blooded new record. A musical step forward that not only surpasses 'Horizons' but also makes it clear that she and her band are truly ready to conquer the major European stages.

For fans of: Paul Horn, Emi Ferguson, Trio d’argent, Greg Foat
