Tonight, we’ll turn our Garden into the world’s coziest cinema with the Pleinbioscoop: we’ll take care of the movie, cold drinks, snacks and an afterparty in line with the rest of the evening. As long as you make sure you’re there!

Although he died in 1977, Fela Anikulapo Kuti is still an intrinsic part of the musical world. As a pioneer of Afrobeat he’s still a symbol of anti-oppression thanks to his critical texts: a lot of his lyrics were focused on the (corrupt) government of his homeland Nigeria. Oscar-winning director Alex Gibney lovingly shows the myth surrounding Fela Kuti, but also shows the man behind the myth.

Insider tip

When the screening’s over, we’ll continue the Fela Kuti vibes, because Transistor Rhythm takes care of the afterparty with a Fela Kuti Tribute. You can attend both the screening and the afterparty by buying a combination ticket (at a reduced price).
