Another Taste - Friday 01 May

This one’s a home game. Rotterdam’s own Another Taste returns to their city for a special night at BIRD: the official album release show. A hometown setting for a new chapter.

On Friday 01 May, they bring their album release show to BIRD. Expect no nostalgia, just a band carving out its own space: live, human, and irresistibly in motion.

Is it boogie? Is it 70’s funk? Obscure disco? Or an ode to Burgess? It’s none of it and all of it. What pours out is exactly what the groove doctor ordered: Another Taste.

The Rotterdam-based collective built its sound in the home studio of Danilo Plessow (MCDE), working exclusively with tape and analogue gear. No polish, no perfection, just warmth, character, and undeniable groove. One of those early takes made its way into the world and went viral before the first vinyl was even pressed.

Live, Another Taste feels like a family reunion: joyful, loud, and dance-driven, with tenderness always present beneath the surface. That same electricity carries into their recordings, music that sounds like a crowd refusing to stand still.

If their 2023 debut showcased their range, Another Taste II (2026) is full immersion: sharper songwriting, denser arrangements, and hidden narratives for those who listen closely. Through characters, interludes, artwork, and lyrics, the album unfolds an imaginary metropolis, a countersound, a refuge for those seeking aliveness in distorted times.

The band has grown along with its universe. Original members Bob Roche, Bobby van Putten, Barend Lippens, and Teun van Zoggel are now joined by Sarina Voorn, Diogo Carvalho, and Florian Verhagen. Together they’ve filled rooms and festivals from Love Supreme and ADE to KOKO London and New Morning Paris.
