This week at BIRDsessions: Amber Hunters, a six-piece band that fuses raw ‘70s funk and fusion energy with the pulse of contemporary grooves. Expect tight rhythms, powerful riffs and razor-sharp horn lines, balanced by moments of open, jazz-driven improvisation.

Formed in 2021 at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, Amber Hunters have since built a solid live reputation across the Netherlands and beyond, sharing stages with artists such as Yoràn Vroom, Bart Fermie, Justs Sirmais and Karl Frierson. With singles New Wheels (2022) and Hyacinthia (2023, via Wicked Wax), the band continues to evolve their sound while working toward their debut album, set for release in 2026.

After the set, the night continues with the open jam session, where musicians and audience meet in spontaneous sound.
