The noughties weren’t just about Starz In Their Eyes and Bonkers, the decade also brought us songs that were just a little different. Do you remember Fit But You Know It and Dry Your Eyes by Mike Skinner and The Streets?

The iconic Original Pirate Material has reached its adolescence in 2019, but we’ve taken Mike Skinner’s tribulations to heart. The shabby street poetry of The Streets casts a wry look at British nightlife, with stopovers in bad clubs, cafeterias that smell like frying fat and backfiring adventures featuring drug use.

Skinner now looks back on that lifestyle with the wisdom of age, but this doesn’t mean his sharp wit and drive to create have decreased. His latest project is called The Darker The Shadow, The Brighter The Light, and it’s a diptych: an album and a movie with the same name. Tonight, after a long absence, The Streets visits for a club show in Rotterdam; we’re focking trippin’ out!
